- GOAT, settled with data
Exploratory data analysis of all of Formula 1, 1950–2024: 26,759 race results and 861 drivers from the Ergast archive, enriched with official 10 Hz FastF1 telemetry.
Three research questions: what predicts a win (ANOVA variance decomposition: driver vs constructor vs circuit), who is the GOAT among Schumacher, Hamilton and Verstappen (normalized by age, race count and era competitiveness), and what separates Verstappen from Pérez in the identical Red Bull RB19 at Suzuka 2023.
The telemetry answer is the best part: sector times, throttle and braking intensity, and a lap map showing exactly where 0.773 s is gained. Fully reproducible notebook published alongside the report.
